Charity Shops conference to be held in July

The Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Association of Charity Shops will take place on 3 and 4 July 2006 at Keele Conference Park, Staffordshire.

This year’s conference will focus on strategy and management. Opening plenary speaker Nick Hollingworth, Chief Executive of Austin Reed will share his perspective on succeeding in a difficult retail environment, and John Williams, Charity Commissioner, will talk about the challenges faced by charities.

Delegates will be able to choose from over 20 workshops covering topics such as how chraities can use eBay for Charity as part of their sales strategy, location planning using technology, effective media relations, and increasing shop profitability.

There will also be an exhibition featuring over 30 commercial organistaions offering a variety of goods and services to the sector.

The conference will also host the Charity Shop Awards which will be presented this year by TV personality Amy Lame. Awards on offer include profitability, volunteering, shop team of the year, most supportive local authority, most valuable item donated, and eBay excellence.

Members of the Association can attend for £250 (residential) or £215 (non-residential), with equivalent fees for non-members being £425 and £395.
