NLB to receive 10% commission on Amazon.co.uk sales via its site
The National Library for the Blind (NLB) has struck a deal with Amazon.co.uk which allows customers to give up to 10% of the value of their purchases to the charity at no extra cost.
Shoppers at online retail giant Amazon can now help more blind people get access to books in Braille with just a click of their mouse, a Stockport-based charity revealed today.
By first logging on the NLB’s website and then clicking on the link to Amazon customers can choose to donate to the charity.

The cash will go towards buying more Braille books for blind readers to enjoy.
Only 5% of books published annually in the UK are available in formats suitable for people with visual impairments to read, such as Braille, giant print and audio, and the choice of reading materials for children is very limited.
The charity’s spokesperson, Claire Briscoe, said keen readers could help address this shortage by donating each time they buy books through Amazon.
She said: “This new fundraising initiative is really different as it is completely free to the user.
“People who would normally browse the internet or shop online can give to NLB by accessing their favourite websites, such as Amazon, via our website.
“It’s just one extra click, but one that will make a massive difference to helping us provide more books for visually impaired people to read.”
