RNLI in Ireland launches fundraising campaign

Howard Lake | 22 February 2006 | News

The RNLI, which operates more than 40 lifeboat stations in Ireland, says it needs increased donations to continue its life saving efforts. More than 1,100 people were rescued by the organisation last year around Ireland’s shores and the organisation needs ‚€14 million if it is to continue its services over the next five years.

The organisation says funding its activities is tough. The RNLI aims to raise around ‚€14m to train volunteers. Without funding, it says, the service will suffer.

The Kilmore Quay and Dun Laoghaire stations were the busiest in the country, launching more than 50 times each, saving over 150 people.
