Celebrity Big Brother raises £480,000 for 11 charities
During the 23-day run of this year’s Celebrity Big Brother, nearly 3 million votes were cast, with part of the fees being donated to the contestants’ charities.
This is a considerable increase on last year’s series which raised £262,000 for charity with 1,048,007 votes cast during the 18-day event.
George Galloway MP raised around £30,000 for his chosen charity, the Palestinian aid agency Interpal. He told The Times that he expected his appearance on the programme to help generate up to £1.3 million for the charity.
