Sheffield Hallam University is launching a new MSc course that attempts to link the full range of issues needed to manage resources strategically in a charitable organisation, from fundraising thruogh to financial management and HR management.

The MSc in Charity Resource Management is a new programme from the Charity and Voluntary Sector Unit in the Faculty of Organisation & Management at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU). It is designed for flexible part-time study, with attendance at the university only for specific four day blocks.

It is not a general voluntary sector course, but a specific programme for organisations operating in the legal context of charitable status in the UK, with a coverage of issues related to the new Charities Bills/Acts.

The full course has eight modules and a dissertation, although it is possible to take parts of the programme to gain a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Charity Resource Management, or even to take individual modules for personal development. Students who complete the two fundraising modules are eligible for the Institute of Fundraising Certificate in Fundraising Management.

For students based in UK charities where
the full cost is impossible, the university is, this year, offering significant scholarships.
