Shell offers greenhouse gas reduction grants for social enterprises

Howard Lake | 6 September 2005 | News

Profunding, online publishers of funding information for charities and nonprofit organisations, are once again sharing information with UK Fundraising of a new grant programme.

Shell has launched a new pilot programme to generate ideas that will lead to products or services that will contribute to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

We must underline that this scheme is not open to voluntary organisations or charities, but is open to limited companies or community interest companies. This will make it available to community and social
enterprises. Businesses must operate in the UK.

At this stage the programme, called Springboard, will run in three UK regions: Scotland and Northern Ireland; Northern and Central England; and Wales and Southern England. Up to six awards of between £20,000 and £40,000 are on offer, with two awards per region.

The essence of Springboard is to provide financial input to new ideas and high quality business plans that provide innovative and viable opportunities to develop products and services that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

You have to have been trading for at least three months and employ fewer than 250 people. A process of business plan submission followed by personal interview will lead to short listing in each region.

The preferred means of application is via the website.
