Friendly society The Oddfellows has committed to raising £180,000 to the Genesis Appeal to fund a lecture/seminar room in Europe’s first purpose built breast cancer prevention centre at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester.

The Oddfellows, one of the largest branch-based friendly societies in the UK, have committed to raising £180,000 over six years through the fundraising of its 100,000 members throughout the country.

The Genesis Appeal claims to be unique amongst UK breast cancer organisations in that it focuses on preventing rather than curing or treating the condition. Its patrons include TV presenter Gloria Hunniford.
