Ignore emails warning of account suspension by fundraising.co.uk
If like us you are receiving a stream of emails apparently from fundraising.co.uk warning that your email account has been suspended, blocked or otherwise closed ‘for security reasons’, feel free to ignore it. It is not from us, and indeed is almost certainly infected with the W32.Mytob.CH@mm virus.
Usually we don’t bother to comment on the numerous email viruses that plague so many Internet users, but this virus attack has certainly been sustained over a period of a week or more. We are receiving a dozen or more such messages each day, all of which purport to come from ‘
we*******@fu*********.uk
‘, ‘
se*****@fu*********.uk
‘, ‘
ad***********@fu*********.uk
‘ or other similar variants.
Most of these addresses we do not use, but occasionally the virus-infected messages use a genuine email address that we use for administrative purposes.

According to anti-virus experts Symantec, “W32.Mytob.CH@mm is a mass-mailing worm with back door functionality that uses its own SMTP engine to send an email to addresses that it gathers from the compromised computer.”
It can be detected and removed using current anti-virus definitions from Symantec and other anti-virus software vendors.
So, we’d ask you not to assume that fundraising.co.uk has been compromised, and simply to continue applying up-to-date anti-virus software against all emails you receive.
