Blackbaud Inc, the non-profit sector software and services provider, has launched a ticketing division in the UK after acquiring exclusive rights to distribute the Standing Room Only service.

Blackbaud will sell and distribute the ticketing management solution Standing Room Only (SRO) in the United Kingdom under the name The Patron Edge„¢, and will assume ongoing responsibility for supporting existing SRO customers.

The company has recruited Christopher Goodhart as the managing director of the new London-based ticketing division, which will be staffed by the existing team already experienced in supporting SRO for the previous distributor.

Goodhart is an IT executive with many years of experience in the arts, cultural and non-profit sector, and joins Blackbaud from Tickets.com, where he served as president of the International Group, managing all activities outside of the United States and Canada.

The new ticketing division enhances Blackbaud’s offer to arts and cultural organisations that operate box offices or visitor service centres. It began offering SRO, labeled as The Patron Edge, in North America in mid-2004.

“Blackbaud’s new leadership position in offering SRO to the UK market can only be good news for organisations that see ticketing as a critical part of fundraising,” said John Boschen, head of information technology at the South Bank Centre, London, which includes The Royal Festival Hall, the Purcell Room, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Hayward Gallery.

Organisations that already use SRO include the Edinburgh International Festival, Scotland; The Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith; and the Almeida Theatre, London.
