Unclaimed assets grantmaker to support older people at risk

Howard Lake | 31 March 2005 | News

The Balance Charitable Foundation for Unclaimed Assets has announced its first grantmaking programme which will fund work focused on the needs of older people across the UK, particularly those over 75 at risk of social exclusion.

Established in December 2003 the Balance Charitable Foundation (BCF) aims to release unclaimed assets held by the UK’s financial institutions and to use them to make grants to the charitable sector. It is a private initiative, independent of Government.

The Programme for Older People, particularly those over 75, is open to applications which show real evidence of wider community involvement, and of the participation of older people in the design and running of the work. The Foundation adds that “applicants are encouraged to approach this funding opportunity in innovative ways”.
