Comic Relief's website is top UK community site, say Hitwise

Web monitoring company Hitwise report that the Comic Relief Red Nose Day 05 website experienced a 1000% growth in traffic over the past month to take top place in the community category.

Back on 10 February 2005, rednoseday.com was attracting just 1% of Internet traffic in the online community sector. By 10 March it was capturing 11.4% of this traffic.

Indeed, the Comic Relief/Red Nose Day brand dominated the top positions for that category, with the bbc.co.uk/rednoseday site securing second place with 4.63%, and the comicrelief.com site achieving fourth place with 2.85%. Together they attracted 18.88% of traffic to that category.

The value of the BBC’s support is clear, with nearly 20% of visits to the rednoseday.com website being delivered by the BBC’s Red Nose Day site at www.bbc.co.uk/rednoseday.
