Royal Horticultural Raffle Winter raffle raises £350,000

Howard Lake | 25 February 2005 | News

The annual RHS Winter Raffle has raised an impressive £350,000 for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the UK’s leading gardening charity.

The raffle is held annually to generate income for the RHS to fund activities such as providing advice to gardeners about challenges such as climate and other environmental change, running educational events and activities, and providing horticultural training.

The RHS is running its largest ever capital appeal to raise funds for a new £7.7m RHS Bicentenary Glasshouse at RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey. Supporters have raised £3m towards the capital appeal launched in June 2004.

The RHS relies on donations and sponsorship support to supplement income from members’ subscriptions, garden operations, flower shows, shops and plant centres. The RHS will be launching its next Winter Raffle in September this year.
