DEC appeal reaches £60 million

The Disasters Emergency Committee Tsunami Earthquake appeal reached the £60 million figure just before 2pm today.
The rapidly rising total means that the British public has donated more online and via the telephone to the DEC appeal than has been pledged in aid by the UK government.
No figures are currently available for the split between telephone and online donations, but past experience would suggest a figure of at least 60% being made online.
