Howard Lake | 26 November 2004 | News

The Rt. Hon Michael Howard QC MP, Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition, is to become a Vice-President of cancer care charity Macmillan Cancer Relief.

As a result of his acceptance of the invitation, Macmillan can now claim that its Vice-Presidents include all the main party leaders.

Macmillan already has a high standing among politicians: it is the charity that MPs of all parties rate as the most effective at campaigning, according to independent polls.

Peter Cardy, Chief Executive, Macmillan Cancer Relief, said that Michael Howard “has been a consistent supporter of Macmillan both as a constituency MP, backing our Get It Spent Where It’s Meant campaign, and in our fundraising at Westminster when he helped compère the 2004 Parliamentary Palace of
Varieties”.
