Dixons Group selects three UK youth charities to support

Electrical retailer Dixons Group plc is to launch a campaign to raise £450,000 for ChildLine, NCH and Teenage Cancer Trust.

The new campaign, called Young Futures, runs for 18 months and will be promoted in all Dixons, Currys, PC World and The Link stores from 1 October 2004.

The company will fundraise through the sale of Christmas key rings and licensed pin badges throughout its 1,150 UK stores. Staff will also be involved in individual and in-store fundraising activities which will be matched pound for pound by Head Office, up to £300 per activity.

Clare Brine, group community relations manager, said: “in addition to the support we give to community groups and small charities through The Dixons Foundation – £875,000 in 2004 – each year our 30,000 UK staff have the opportunity to vote for a national charity or a consortium of charities to support under the banner ‘Charity of the Year’.

During 2003, the European Year of Disabled People, Dixon’s raised £440,000 for four disability charities – the Parkinson’s Disease Society, Headway (the Brain Injury Association), the Down’s Syndrome
Association and Action for Blind People.

Eve Audis has been appointed campaign coordinator for Young Futures and will
take up her role as liaison between the three charities and the Dixons Group
on 1 November 2004.
