Girlguiding UK will receive 10% of the sales of the forthcoming book called “The Story of Brownie Oddie”, the next in the popular children’s odd sock book series, The Oddies.

The Oddies series takes a fun look at the question “where do all the missing odd socks go?” Each book focuses on a different odd sock character known as an Oddie and their adventures on a distant planet far behind the moon.

The Oddies team are inviting Rainbows and Brownies, the two youngest Guide sections covering the age groups five to seven years old and seven to 13 year olds respectively, from across the UK to write the story as
part of a competition in the Oddies ‘Read With Me Week’ which takes place from 1 – 7 November 2004.

The winners of “The Story of Brownie Oddie” competition will receive over £1,000 worth of vouchers for Guide Leaders to buy equipment for their unit, and a co-author credit in the book.

Girlguiding UK PR Manager Daniel Brett-Schneider said: “Girlguiding UK has always been very selective in choosing its Cause Related Marketing partnerships and this relationship represents a perfect match for both parties. Valuable funds and awareness will be raised through the sales of the book and at the same time will allow our younger members to work towards their “Rainbow
Storytime Activities” and “Brownie Writer and Artist” badges.”
