Professional fundraising organisation Fruitful has gone into administration, together with two other Fruitful companies, with around 750 staff losing their jobs, according to Professional Fundraising magazine.

Tenon Recovery was appointed as administrator on 14 July 2004 to handle three Fruitful companies – the main Fruitful Fundraising (GB) Ltd, Fruitful Fundraising (HR) Ltd and Fruitful Fundraising (Workplace) Ltd. There is no information yet on the companies’ debts.

Last month Fruitful Fundraising (Face to Face) and Fruitful Fundraising (Door to Door) were also put into administration “with combined debts of more than £1.5m”.

Fruitful bought its face-to-face fundraising business in 2003 from Open Air Fundraising which went into administration as well owing £1.8 million.

Professional Fundraising was told by Chris Coleridge, CEO of Fruitful, that he blamed “revelations” in the magazine and the Daily Telegraph for Fruitful’s closure.

Fruitful had previously been given the licence to run the face to face business of Push, which had also gone into administration.
