Islamic Aid pulls out of partnership with Qibla Cola

Howard Lake | 17 July 2004 | News

Islamic Aid has severed its deal with Qibla Cola, which had pledged to donate 10% of profits to good causes including Islamic Aid.

Qibla Cola, “a real alternative for anyone with a conscience”, was launched in February 2003. However, because it hasn’t made a profit yet Islamic Aid has not received any donations. Yet the company continues to state in its promotional material that it “gives 10 per cent of profits to charity.” Islamic Aid was concerned that this claim was misleading some of their supporters who believed that money was being donated.

The cola company has listed its charitable donations to date on its Web site.
