Sports clubs missing out on up to £148 million, say ministers
Around 40,000 amateur sports clubs across the UK are missing out on tax benefits, reduced business rates and Gift Aid which could reach an astonishing £148m.
They could claim these benefits if they registered with the Inland Revenue as a ‘CASC’ – a Community Amateur Sports Club.
The figures were given by Sports Minister Richard Caborn and the Economic Secretary to the Treasury John Healey when they visited a local cricket club to highlight the value of the CASC scheme.
