Vocational Rich List published

The wealth of the ‘craft millionaires’ such as Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, and Karen Millen rose by half during 2003, according to figures in the second ‘City & Guilds Vocational Rich List’.

The personal wealth of Britain’s self-made rich has risen from £2.7 billion last year to £4.2 billion in 2004, according to the list which was compilted by Philip Beresford, author of The Sunday Times Rich List. The Vocational Rich List ranks the wealth of those who built their fortunes on a vocational qualification or apprenticeship.

The list of 25 entrepreneurs is headed by telecoms magnate John Caudwell. Having entered the workplace as an engineering apprentice he now has an estimated financial value of £1.28 billion.
