Over the next three months, Abbey will be donating an additional £100,000 to charities in the Camden areas whose applications fit with its new charitable priorities.

From 1 June 2004, Abbey is looking for applications for funding of £5,000 to £20,000, with the aim of making a positive impact on the local community. Charities will have until 30 August 2004 to apply for funding. Decisions on applications received will be taken in September and the names of the successful applicants announced shortly afterwards.

Alan Eagle, Charitable Trust manager at Abbey said: “These priorities fit very closely with our new goal of helping people get on top of their money. They also reflect the part we want to play in supporting regeneration in Camden and the surrounding areas.”

This donation programme is part of Abbey’s plan to promote its new Charitable Trust priorities, which have been changed to reflect the new direction of the bank. A similar programme has already been implemented in the Sheffield and Bradford areas, and other areas will be announced in due course.
