Rotary hold panel discussion on role of volunteers today

The role of volunteers in the 21st Century will be debated in “Question Time”-style panel discussion with 2,500 delegates at the annual Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland Conference on 24 April 2004.

The panel will be chaired by Dame Stephanie Shirley and the guest panellists are Major Bill Cochrane, Secretary for Communications The Salvation Army; Stuart Etherington, Chief Executive National Council for Voluntary Organisations; David Varney, Chairman of Business in the Community and Chairman of mmO2 plc; and Mr Rodney Huggins, past President of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland.

Brian Stoyel, President of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland, commented: “Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland gave more than 14 million man hours in community service last year which is worth more than £160 million in commercial terms “
