Chance to reward young volunteers

Whitbread Group plc and the Home Office’s Active Community Unit are looking to reward young volunteers across the country who have changed the face of their communities through outstanding voluntary work.

The Whitbread Young Achiever awards (WYA), now in their second year, aim to recognise and reward exceptional, and often unsung, contributions by young volunteers nationwide, aged between 16 and 25. The awards scheme is looking for young people who’ve really made a difference in one of four areas – community, environment, sport and the arts – with activity that has both benefited their community and their own personal development.

Nominations for the awards can be made by anyone via the awards Web site or by post until 11 June 2004.
