The British Heart Foundation has released details of the online element of its latest anti-smoking campaign.

The BHF anti-smoking microsite has proved successful, says the Foundation. “The traffic to the whole BHF Web site from 1-29 January was 230,000 visits, meaning more than a quarter of our visitors (62,000) looked at the anti-smoking microsite last month.”

These 230,000 visits represent “a 78% increase in traffic on December 2003
figures, making it by far the busiest month for traffic since the Web site was launched in 1998.”

Citing hitwise.co.uk, the charity said that this figure made it “the second most
visited Web site in the healthcare sector last month, behind only breastcancer.org.” This meant their market share almost tripled.

“The average time spent on the microsite is 9 minutes 19 seconds,” reported the health charity. “This is almost double the average time spent on UK websites of 4 minutes 51 seconds”, the figure provided by hitwise.co.uk.
