Why your supporters are wealthier than you expect. Course details.

Two US agencies handle $93 million in online donations in 2003

US online fundraising software companies Convio and Kintera report that they processed $40 million and $53 million respectively in online donations for their clients during 2003.

For Convio this was a tenfold increase on the previous year and for Kintera it was a sixfold increase. Nor is the increase due simply to more non-profits starting to fundraise online. Wired quotes Convio CEO Gene Austin as saying that 70% of this increase came from the activities of existing clients.

Successful clients include the Jewish National Fund which raised more than $1 million via the Web in 2003, compared to $663,000 online in 2002 and $325,000 in 2001. Its Web site has helped recruit 57,000 new donors in the past three years.
