The next free Internet seminar from Volcom will be held in London on 22 January 2004 and will cover online fundraising, Web site accessibility, and intranets.

Seb Bacon, Technical Director, at Jamkit will speak on “Website accessibility for charities: a practical guide.” This will cover how to meet your legal obligations and exceed them. The session will look at coding
and design techniques, testing your site, and how to make the most out of
your accessible features.

Ben Brabyn from Bmycharity will speak on “For love and money – using the internet to raise money and build relationships with your donors.” This will look at the fact that understanding your supporters’ needs is the key to successful fundraising. This session will help you find out how smart Internet fundraising can increase your income, cut your costs and build your most valuable relationships.

Craig Beard and Tim Wallis from Content and Code will then speak on “Best Practices for Implementing an Intranet for Not-for-Profit Organisations”. This session will cover issues such as the benefits and cost-savings to my organisation of having an intranet, project planning for an intranet, the key content and functional areas organisations should have on an intranet, how to keep intranets fresh and up to date.

At the end of the three talks there will be an opportunity for an open discussion that anybody wants to talk about.

The seminar will start at 4pm with teas, coffees “and some really tasty cakes” and finish between 6-7pm.

The seminar is the Conference Room on the Mezzannine floor at Elizabeth House, York Way, just near the Shell Centre, next to Waterloo Station. The nearest tube is Waterloo.

The next seminar after this for 2004 is on Thursday 22nd April 2004, 4-7pm in the same venue.
