eBay billionaire funds centre for social business at Oxford

Jeff Skoll, former president of online auction company eBay, has donated £4.4 million to the Said Business School to research businesses that trade for social benefit.

The donation was made the Skoll Foundation which has $300m under investment. Skoll himself has been ranked the fourth wealthiest person under 40 by Fortune magazine.

The donation is for the establishment of the world’s first academic centre for the study and promotion of businesses that trade for a social purpose. The Skoll Centre will begin by offering a one-year MBA in social entrepreneurship aswell as conducting research.
