New distance learning programme for Certificate in School Fundraising

Howard Lake | 1 October 2003 | News

The Certificate in School Fundraising launched by The Professional Fundraising Consultancy is now offering the course as a Distance Learning Programme starting in March 2004.

Delegates will now have the option of the taught course of six one-day seminars or minimal attendance at the seminars and more study from their chosen base.

The Certificate in School Fundraising is now entering its third year. The course, the first accredited course in school fundraising, awards delegates a Certificate from the University of Manchester’s Faculty of Education on the successful completion of six one day modules and the associated written assignments. In addition, delegates are encouraged to produce a detailed fundraising strategy for their school and this piece of work can then be used to apply for a Diploma.

Delegates taking part in the distance-learning programme are encouraged to attend the first module of the course and another of their choice if possible. Lecture notes and case studies will be e-mailed or sent to delegates for each module and then discussed on a one-to-one basis with the course tutors. The topics covered will remain the same as the attended sessions and there will be assignments after each module.

“We have offered the Certificate in School Fundraising as a distance learning programme in response to enquiries from delegates who live further a field or who would find it impossible to attend the six one day seminar sessions at the University of Manchester”, explains Sue Marsden, Principal of PFC. “However we would encourage delegates to attend at least two of the sessions as one of the major benefits of the course is the opportunity to network and share ideas with fellow fundraising colleagues”.

PFC have been specialists in school fundraising since 1988.
