SCVO launches new online fundraising tool

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has added Charitysponsor.com, an online fundraising tool, to its voluntary sector portal site workwithus.org.
Charitysponsor.com allows organisations and individuals to raise money for good causes and their favourite charities. It can be used to raise funds whether one is running an event, setting up an appeal, jumping out of a plane or commemorating a special day or occasion.
Alastair Dutton, Development Officer at SCVO explains:

“If you are running the Marathon or cycling from Inverness to London then this site provides an easy way to help you raise money for charity.
“You can pick your favourite UK or Scottish charity from over 25,000 organisations, upload a picture of yourself, choose your favourite colour and e-mail friends and colleagues. They then sponsor online using their debit or credit card.”

All donations are handled by workwithus.org and SCVO. It joins the ranks of other online sponsorship and giving services such as Justgiving.com and Bmycharity.com in removing the need to chase up sponsors, pass round a dog-eared sponsor sheet or look after heaps of loose change.
So far the SSPCA, Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) and Maggie’s Cancer Care are some of the early pioneers using the site.
SCVO says that only the bank’s regular transaction fees are deducted from online donations handled via the site. Currently these are 2% on all credit cards and 25p per transaction on all debit cards.
