Frugal insurance salesman leaves £1m legacy to GDBA

A former insurance salesman who bought his clothes from Oxfam shops has left £1,080,040 to the Guide Dogs for the Blind in his will.

Joseph Leek from Hull had invested all his savings in stocks and shares for 40 years, according to Ananova.com. His wealth surprised his daughter who described him as “an enigma”.

Although he did not bequeath anything to his daughter she was positive about his legacy. “It’s such a good cause,” she said. “You couldn’t begrudge the good that will be done for so many people.”
