Cats Protection to test telemarketing for first time

Cats Protection will test telemarketing as a fundraising tool for the first time this month following its ongoing success with direct marketing.

The campaign will target up to 10,000 supporters and involve two separate tests. The objective of the first is to upgrade cash
contributors to regular givers. The second will aim to reactivate donors who gave a one-off contribution two years ago.

Cats Protection and its direct marketing agency TDA have appointed charity telemarketing specialists Personal Telephone Fundraising to carry out the calling.

“Telephone operators will call supporters to thank them for their previous contributions,” said Debbie Pearce, Head of Operations at Cats Protection. “They will go on to ask if they would consider committing to a small regular gift rather than more occasional cash donations. Direct marketing has delivered some great results for Cats Protection and we are ready to test outbound telemarketing as well.”

“Direct Mail has helped Cats Protection recruit thousands of valuable regular givers,” said Dylan Aplvor, Account Director at TDA. “We are hopeful that telemarketing will prompt many more people to commit to
regular support.”
