Dishonest fundraising volunteers register proposed

Howard Lake | 22 May 2003 | News

A new code of practice on volunteer fundraising could include the setting up of a database of volunteers who have stolen from charities.

The code is in the early stages of being discussed by the Institute of Fundraising and will be put out for consultation later this year. The idea of a register of names comes from Rob Jackson, volunteering development officer at the RNIB.

It is hoped that one result of the code will be to link the volunteering subsector and the fundraising subsector. According to Jackson, “the two disciplines don”t cross paths that much” because they are seen as separate management disciplines.
