Final round for Better Play grants to open next month

A final round of grants worth £2.8 million will be made to organisations in England working with children. Applications open on 10 March 2003.
Better Play is a partnership between Barnardo’s and the Children’s Play Council, and is funded by the New Opportunities Fund with proceeds from the National Lottery. The final round is aimed at organisations that can demonstrate they are progressing towards inclusion.
In particular, Better Play will fund:

* mainstream play services working towards becoming inclusive of disabled children
* play services primarily for disabled children working towards becoming inclusive of all children.
Grants will range from £5,000 to £35,000 of which up to £7,000 is available for capital expenditure.
The closing date for applications is 31 July 2003.
