Fundraisers look for creativity
New masterclasses introduce legacy and corporate fundraisers to ‘creative fundraising’.
Company Solutions (UK) Ltd, the fundraising and training agency established by Gareth Edwards, Chair of the All Charities Internet Fundraising Forum and a fundraiser for 16 years, held two masterclasses last week in London. Forty four fundraisers from all levels of organisation attended the two masterclasses designed to help fundraisers improve their current work and create new ideas and opportunities in the future.
What does creative fundraising training involve? Gareth explains: “Musical and other triggers are used, and role play and rehearsal, as well as adapting classic work in new ways to create valuable ideas.”

Legacy fundraisers learned new approarches to marketing legacies, securing face to face appointments and upgrading existing pledgers. At the end of each masterclass participants receive a workbook containing the results of the workshops.
The delegates were clearly receptive to learning new approaches to fundraising. Deborah Dowdall at the Duke of Edinburghs Award, described the day as “inspiring and very hands on. It was good to be made to think creatively and to be led to it”
Company Solutions (UK) Ltd will be running Creative Masterclasses in Donor Development and Trading in December 2002.
