Peter Davies CB to become Director General of WSPA
Major General Peter Davies CB will take over as Director General of The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) on 4 November 2002.
Peter Davies succeeds Andrew Dickson, who recently retired as WSPA’s Chief Executive. He already has a long-standing involvement with WSPA, having served on the society’s Board of Directors since 1991, and as President for the past two years. Peter will retire as Director General of the RSPCA, one
of WSPA’s largest member societies, after 11 years of service.

Reflecting upon his appointment, Peter said, “I will be
looking at achieving truly global initiatives to improve the welfare of animals. One example of this is the Universal Declaration for the Welfare of Animals that WSPA has developed and, with the support of literally hundreds of animal protection organisations worldwide, aims to lobby the
United Nations to adopt.”
