NCVO calls for publication of PIU report

Etherington wants report published quickly.
Stuart Etherington, Chief Executive of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), today called on the Government to stop delaying the Performance and Innovation Unit’s (PIU) report into charities and move quickly to consult on the introduction of a public benefit test for all charities.
The report was originally due for publication in February. Etherington said that he was “extremely concerned that this report… is being sidelined by the Government.” He added: “There is clear support within the charity sector and from the public for the introduction of a public benefit test for new and existing charities. The sooner we consult on what it involves the better.”
