Australia introduces tax-efficient payroll giving
Employees in Australia can now give to charities through their payroll and receive an immediate tax benefit.
Following an Australian Taxation Office decision, Australians can for the first time give ‘pre-tax’ to charities registered as deductible gift recipients and receive their tax deduction up front. Individuals will no longer have to wait until the end of the tax year to remember to claim their deduction.
CAF Australia is among the organisations that has lobbied to achieve this ruling. Mr Duncan Power, Executive Director of CAF Australia said: “The changes present a new and exciting opportunity for corporate Australia to support the community involvement of their employees.”
