Community Fund grant for Leonard Cheshire's volunteer programme
The Community Fund has made an award to Leonard Cheshire to fund their work of attracting and supporting vital voluntary workers.
The Community Fund’s grant of £347,702 will pay for four volunteer development workers, who will recruit and support volunteers around the UK and ensure that Leonard Cheshire makes the best use of its voluntary support, which is currently more than 5000 strong.
Leonard Cheshire volunteers have a wide range of roles, including fundraising, befriending disabled clients, helping with letter writing, reading, driving and shopping. Computer volunteers are also vital for the Workability Project, which provides disabled people with computers and

The grant will cover costs of the volunteer team for the next three years.
