UK businesses are wasting £125m a year in marketing because they are using too much jargon. They are wasting even more in lost sales, according to Hoover’s Online Europe.

UK businesses are wasting £125m a year in marketing because they are using too much jargon. They are wasting even more in lost sales, according to Hoover’s Online Europe.

The research company has launched a jargon-busting campaign called Death By Jargon which urges professionals to communicate more effectively.

Gehan Talwatte, managing director of Hoover’s Online Europe, said: “Our Death By Jargon campaign is designed to entertain professionals, as well as to point out how ridiculous some of their jargon sounds. We’re delighted that the Plain English Campaign, and many well-known characters in the Internet business community, are supporting our efforts.”
