A US charity has received a $2.5 million donation via their Web site – and it was genuine.

Philanthropy News Network reports that United Cerebral Palsy in the USA has received an online donation from an individual of $2.5 million. This is almost certainly the largest amount donated online by an individual to date.

The gift was made by lawyer Stephen L. Snyder, who commented: “Online giving is the wave of the future, and it’s easy, convenient, and most of all, it’s secure. I hope that by making this contribution online others will follow my lead.”
