Charitableway, the online employee giving service in the US, might be closing down this month, but the organisation’s transparent behaviour deserves credit. While the failed high-profile dot coms in the UK have collapsed suddenly, some of them failing to pay off or even tell staff, Charitableway’s behaviour seems quite different.

While the failed high-profile dot coms in the UK have collapsed suddenly, some of them failing to pay off or even tell staff, Charitableway’s behaviour seems quite different.

Their chief executive Chris Montanos has opened into a dialogue with users and other non-profit staff via the ePhilanthropyFoundation’s e-mail discussion list. If future non-profit sector Internet start-ups fail, let’s hope they can match this level of professional and ethical respect for their former clients.
