Too many awareness days?

Awareness days and weeks are an established fundraising and campaigning tool for many charities. However, there are now twice as many such occasions as there were in 1996. To complicate matters the commercial sector now accounts for 10% of these days with events such as National Chip Week, National Toast Day, and Sausage Awareness Week. UK Fundraising features some of these days in our coming up column to help charities plan ahead.
