Respecting intellectual property in wealth research

The trend among magazines and newspapers for producing lists of the wealthiest people is usually a boon for publishers and for fundraising researchers. It should also be a benefit to the company that was canny enough to register the phrase “rich list„¢” as a trademark some years ago. Unfortunately, as fundraisers and publishers bandy the phrase around in articles and on Web sites, this has not proved the case.
