The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine has won a grant of £26 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates
The donation was the result of a standard application to foundations which at first went unacknowledged.However, it had caught the attention of the Gates family and they asked the School to write a ten-page letter of intent, rather than fill out a standard application form.
