Charity sites reviewed
Shelter’s redesigned Web site received a rather negative review in this week’s new media Revolution magazine. “It’s all terribly earnest,” said the reviewer. Although “the information you would need is actually all there… it’s ever so boring.”
The review wasn’t entirely accurate, stating for example that the home page has no images. Still, it is interesting to see the increasing levels of expectations of major charities’ Web sites from industry commentators. The true test, of course, is meeting or exceeding the expectations of online supporters or visitors.
By contrast, the Tate Galleries received four out of five stars from Net Profit magazine, which described it as “a highly professional and visually pleasing site for the London, Liverpool and St Ives-based Tate galleries.”
