Which domain name should your charity register?

Which domain name should your charity register? If you’re a UK charity then new research suggests that you should opt for a UK domain name.

Interface design consultancy Usability has found that 43% of people in the UK think that a “dot com” Web address signifies a US-based company. At the same time 97% of people understand that a .co.uk site implies that it is based in the UK.

The survey did not cover non-profit domain names, but it would seem likely that UK charity donors will be more amenable to a charity Web site with a .org.uk address rather than an .org.
