Who are the key successful e-entrepreneurs in the UK whom charities should be courting?

The charitable interests and activities of US high-tech business people are well documented. James Barksdale, former president of Netscape Communications, has just given $100m to the state of Mississippi for education; and software entrepreneur Peter Norton has donated 1,000 works of art to 28 museums. But who are the key successful e-entrepreneurs in the UK whom charities should be courting?

One notable name is Martha Lane Fox, co-founder of lastminute.com. At 26 she is worth an estimated £50m. Of course, that assumes that her company floats successfully.

Nevertheless, penal reform charity Reprieve has already secured her attention and support. Ms Lane Fox is now a trustee of the charity which sends law students to the US to help people on Death Row. According to an interview with The Independent, Ms Lane Fox had previously thought about becoming a prison governor.
