Downturn in charitable giving has ended, says NCVO

New figures from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) have just been published which show a slight rise in donations to charity following a downward trend that has lasted several years.

New figures from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) have just been published which show a slight rise in donations to charity following a downward trend that has lasted several years. Public donations have risen nearly 10% between 1997 and 1998 to £4.94 billion.

But all is not well, says NCVO: “without urgent government support, charity giving could revert to the downward trend of the early nineties.”
