Free PCs given away: the ultimate membership incentive for charities?

Tiny, “Britain’s biggest computer manufacturer”, is now giving away new, good specification PCs at no charge. To get one all you have to do is transfer your telephone subscription to TINYtelecom for just one year.

Tiny, “Britain’s biggest computer manufacturer”, is now giving away new, good specification PCs at no charge. To get one all you have to do is transfer your telephone subscription to TINYtelecom for just one year. Provided your telephone charges reach a minimum of £25 every month, you can claim your free PC. This approach to customer acquisition has already been tried in the US.

In the wake of free charity Internet Service Providers, the ability to give away a free PC to new members must be a remarkably powerful incentive. So, which charity is going to be first to make a deal with TINY or any of the other computer manufacturers who will no doubt follow suit with similar offers? Who will be able to say “and to welcome you to our charity, we’d like to give you a free PC”?
