Sadler’s Wells, London’s premier dance theatre, has run out of money to stage artistic performances so will be hosting trade fairs and conferences in February next year to generate income.

Sadler’s Wells, London’s premier dance theatre, has run out of money to stage artistic performances so will be hosting trade fairs and conferences in February next year to generate income.

Although the theatre reopened last year following a £48 million National Lottery grant, it does not have “enough money to put on artistic work throughout the year”, according to its Chief Executive Ian Albery. He criticised the low level of funding from the Arts Council, which gives just £200,000 a year for artistic work.
